Our School

Dancers in our pre-beginner and beginner classes can start at 3-years-old. We have participants of all ages, from enthusiastic teenagers to energetic adults and passionate seniors. Those involved in our school cherish not only the fine dance instruction, but also the sense of belonging, new friendships and personal growth. The main goal of dancing and performing at Barvinok is simple: It’s to have fun.

Experienced Instructors

Our instructors are experienced dancers with performing ensembles and bring with them a variety of ideas, choreography, energy and vision. They are constantly exploring new regional dances for our students to perform, as well as delivering new and exciting choreography to some of our more traditional dances.

Genuine Costumes

At Barvinok we continuously expand our costumes to reflect the growth of our group. We now have a costume inventory that can rival professional dance ensembles. We are proud of our costume selection because the outfits reflect who we are. Ukrainian seamstresses located overseas design many of our costumes to give the school an unforgettable and unique look.

Southern Alberta Ukrainian Dance Festival

In 1997, Barvinok founded the annual Southern Alberta Ukrainian Dance Festival. Held each March the festival has grown into one of the premier events attracting dancers from all over Alberta and beyond. As an ongoing sponsor, Barvinok would like to thank our group of volunteers. Without them, our studio would not be what it is today.
