Are auditions necessary?
No. Auditions are not necessary to attend general classes with the exception of the ensemble.
What is ensemble?
The members of the ensemble are considered the ambassadors of the school. They practice and perform at a semi-professional level. One can audition for the ensemble starting at age 13 but from the ages of 13 to 16 ensemble members must also be dancing in another class (not necessarily Barvinok). The ensemble currently consists of members between the ages of 15 and 21, allowing for students to continue dancing into their late teens and early twenties.
Are there any weekend commitments other than performances?
Intermediate/Senior Workshop
Workshops are held in the Spring for intermediate and senior dancers with the end result being performed at the year end concert. If dancers do not attend the workshop they will not be included in the choreography.
Picture Day
The school picture day is held on a Saturday morning in February.
