Barvinok is such an incredible community where our children can embody the spirit and culture of Ukrainian heritage. We are thrilled to have our daughter and family be a part of this society.

Barvinok has one of the largest costume collections in North America. Each piece is handmade in Ukraine and authentically showcases folk-dress traditions. Costumes are loaned to our dancers, so the only piece of costume attire needing to be purchased is your personal footwear.

I really enjoy the dance festivals and being able to perform and compete. One of the things I like about our senior class is ballet. Ballet helps improve your overall abilities and techniques. I’ve made a lot of friends through dance.


I danced here for many years and it is my home away from home and feels like you’re in a big family.

Children in our Pre-Beginner, Beginner, Intermediate and Senior classes dance on Thursday evenings. Senior level dancers have an additional class on Monday evenings that incorporates and builds upon ballet fundamentals. All classes are held in the cultural hall at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor.

My daughter has been dancing with Barvinok since 2018 and absolutely loves it. They have amazing dance instructors and my daughter can’t wait to go back again in September. I have even started dancing in the adult group. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve met a lot of great people!

I have made a lot of really good friends at Barvinok. My favourite event is Dinner & Dance because I love the food, the kolomeyka and it’s a fun night. I also look forward to traveling to the Cheremosh festival.

Ukrainian dance is really good exercise and the guys learn lots of tricks. The best part is spending time with friends.

Barvinok’s Adult class meets on Sunday evenings and has dancers who are new to dance, experienced and everywhere in between. Classes are held at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Sobor.

We have a wonderful, inclusive community of dancers, instructors, parents and alumni. We love dancing with Barvinok! We are proud to share the beautiful Ukrainian culture through dance.
