Barvinok is no ordinary dance school. We believe dance is meant to be inclusive and for the entire community. We rely on the generous time contributions of our dancers’ family members, who volunteer at various events and activities.
Volunteers help keep our tuition fees accessible and also build and strengthen our Calgary Ukrainian dance community by working together. Our parent volunteers are the backbone of our dance society and are very involved.
Commitment to Volunteering
Each dance season, families of child and youth dancers commit to:
Volunteering approximately 15 hours per dancer (variable based on enrollment) at various events
or
Volunteering as a Board Member or Chair (fulfilling their entire volunteer commitment for the year)
Signing up for at least 1 shift at our fundraising casino (1 event every 18-21 months, approximately).
NEW! Adult Class members also provide 1 volunteer per family for the casino event.
Volunteering commitments are made at the time of registration and are a requirement for membership.

Serving as a Board Member fulfills the Volunteer Commitment for your entire family for the year.
Board Meetings are typically held once a month, on Thursday evenings during class times. All members are welcome to attend.
